I went South on Sunday to drill some rims...Guacamole says his wife will watch the kids and the dog, let's ride 1st.
Well, I'm not one to turn down such an invitation....
The Niner is down for repairs but the Fatty has been fun to rail on the dirt so....Fat it was!!
Fast as Fast can be...with a little creative editing...photo by Guacamole
The we got back to Guacamole's Hacienda and washed the rigs and talked
of hanging Golden Bull Balls and Gun Racks off the back of since these
things are Monster Truck's....Vroom, Vroom...
Then we popped some Left Hand Milk Stouts and set to work...
The original Surly Rolling Darryl Rims, undrilled...heavy, no colored rim strip tape, boring.
Guacamole making a jig to hold the rims while we tap and drill them out
Center Punching the rim with a template I made to center the holes between the spokes
Me, Drilling Guac's Rolling Darryl Rims. It makes em lighter and and gives em an awesome factor!
Nearly finished. Next a deburring tool was used to remove the sharp edges and clean up the "looks" of the holes.
Approximately 300 grams or so of rim material
The finished wheel in state of awesomeness!
And That's How You Make Them Fly!!

Oooooooo.......love the little extra bit of drilling - looks sweet. Have to do that to mine too......cause the extra few grams will make this fat arse faster!

U still have a Fatty? Thought you sold it. But yea, I talked Guacamole into the extra drilling cause it lost some more weight, did nothing to compromise structural integrity and adds to the awesomeness of the wheels!
